Clash of Clans December 2017 Update: Clan Games and more

After a few quiet months, Supercell just released a major Clash of Clans update in December. Bring new clan games mode and massive balance changes to shake up the gameplay. The last update came in October, but it wasn’t enough and mostly focused on the new build base. With that in mind, here’s what you need to know about the Clash of Clans big December update.

Every year we receive a major update in December to celebrate Christmas. New obstacles, snow, Christmas trees and more. However, we received big changes in the normal village, aggressive balance changes, Clan games, quests, magic items and new additions to the builder base.

In December 2015, Supercell added City Hall 11, which many consider the last major update. It also drastically changed the shield and gold system. The developers typically release two giant updates each year. The first of 2017 arrived in May, the Builder Base update. And now the next one is this month. However, we don’t get Builder 8 or Town Hall 12, at least not yet.

Clash of Clans December Balance Changes

Before we get into the new features, we want to share the official balance changes which has just entered into force. And wow, are they huge. This is potentially the most exciting update to Clash of Clans in almost two years. At least from an offensive or offensive point of view. Supercell just made attacks fun again, and here’s what has changed.

  • Golem – HP is significantly higher
  • Lava dog – HP is significantly higher
  • giants – Get a big HP boost
  • Minor – Nerf by increasing the housing space to 6 each, instead of 5 each.
  • The king the queen – 5 additional levels (max level 50)
  • Hell Tower – Healing spells now work via Inferno (w0w) “The effect that prevents healing while receiving damage from Inferno Towers has been removed”
  • 25 other walls available
  • Town Hall 11 gets an increase of Military camp up to level 9
  • arc X – Significantly reduced damage
  • find out more details here

Basically the biggest change by far is the fact that Inferno Towers will no longer melt our troops. The healing spell was ineffective against him, but it is no longer the case. As a result, the miners lost 20% of the camp’s capacity because they were way too strong. Then almost all of the big troops got a big health bonus.

This should definitely help Town Hall 10 and 11 players get 3-star attacks now, hopefully, and completely shake up the gameplay. Oh, and Town Hall 11 players can upgrade camps to level 9, giving you up to 260 soldiers to attack with, down from just 240.

Clash of Clans December 2017 update: what’s new

The December update brings snow to our village, getting into the holiday spirit. Along with the new look and feel, Supercell will be adding obstacles, Christmas presents, and the annual Clash of Clans collectible Christmas tree. The Christmas tree changes every year and we expect the white colored decorations to match the latest Town Hall 11 upgrades. A recent one maintenance update prepared the servers for these changes.

We were expecting a slew of new “Quests” and these have arrived in the form of Clan Games. The December update mostly added balance changes, new modes, and the winter theme. Here’s what you need to know.

Clan games

Supercell has just added a whole new mode, Clan games. For all the details you want Click here. Just be aware that clans must work together to complete different challenges. It looks like these will be individual challenges, but grouped into a clan.

That is, have your strongest attacker try to get the most stars, and don’t have Town Hall 9 try to take on the EAGLE artillery challenge during clan games. Otherwise, you won’t gain much. Let each player take on a challenge that works with their strengths. The first clan games start on December 19, so stay tuned.

Clan games and challenges are coming soon

For a quick rundown of the clan game’s “quests” you’ll want to head over to the official site. Clash of Clans Forums. Basically it looks like small quests and daily tasks big and small will all combine into one big clan game. We will reserve our judgment until the end of the first round.

Magic items

The biggest change for December is the new Magical Items in Clash of Clans. In total, there are 8 new magic items. Five of them are books and three of them are spells. You can earn magic items by completing tasks in clan games and hopefully other sources as well. These reside in the Clan Castle, but cannot be lost during attacks.

Magic items are quite important. They work in both the regular village or the builders base, and can do things like instantly complete any building upgrade, troop upgrade, or even heroes and spell upgrades. This is huge news. Earn a Book of Heros magic item and instantly upgrade your King, Queen, Grand Guardian, or Master Builder.

There’s even a new magic item that allows you to brew max level troops in either village for 1 hour. We’ll have to test these new changes when they become available, but so far it looks exciting. More information is here.

Modifications to the constructor base

There was a lot of hype surrounding the Builder Base 8 update in December, but it never happened. Instead, we can’t wait to see Builder Hall 8 in January or February of next year. This update does not add anything new to BH, except for new magic items that work in both villages.

That said, we do know that a new MEGA Tesla and a new PEKKA will both be coming to the manufacturer base at some point in the future. The only question is when. Again, don’t expect a Builder Island base update for at least a month or two.
